Resources

This section contains IAG resources that can be used by Connexions Personal Advisers, teachers and other practitioners working with young people. IAG stands for Information, Advice and Guidance and on My Steps IAG resources are based around transition for young people.

What do these resources cover?

IAG resources cover any topic related to transition. This could mean lessons to deliver in class looking at post-16 choices to materials that can be used in small groups or 1:1 on self esteem or interview preparation.

Where do the resources come from?

Many of these resources are nationally produced and available from nationally promoted websites. They are brought together on My Steps to make them easier to access.

How do I know which materials to use?

As these pages are accessible to all practitioners working with young people you will use your own judgement about which resources you need and which you would like to use. With some careers-related IAG resources it is highly recommended to have an IAG qualification in order to be able to deliver effectively and answer questions. Equally with other resources you may feel those that you already use are more appropriate.

A series of 30 lessons plans and handouts for 13-19 year olds including guidance notes. Find these resources on the homepage of the CEGNET website. Most high schools and Connexions centres will have copies of the Ways and Choices CD-ROM containing all materials.

CONNEXIONS TYNE AND WEAR CAREER LEAFLETS

The following leaflets have been produced by Connexions Tyne and Wear. They have been displayed on My Steps as there is useful LMI and contact information on them which will benefit many Northumberland learners. However, to avoid confusion they have only been linked in the resources section so that professionals working with young people in Northumberland can make up their own minds about how to use them. Thanks go to Connexions Tyne and Wear for permission to display these leaflets.
